Twitter Summary
Adventures at SXSWi
Kate Simmons (@ksimmons135), Catlin Bowers (@cabowers), and Michael Bishop (@J412SSM) managed the Twitter conversation in today J412 SSM class with 68 tweets from contributers from the SOJC, Portland, and Eugene.
We were joined by fellow SOJC students, Isaac Viel (@isaacviel) and Evan Schultz (@evanschults), who came to talk to us about their experiences at SXSWi this year. There were a lot of comparisons between the iPhone and Android, being that the smartphone of choice at SXSWi was the iPhone. Due to the excessive use of iPhones by quote on quote “nerds”, Evan and Isaac witnessed many iPhone-bumps. They mainly covered the increased popularity of geo-tagging and augmented reality, along with the death of flash.
@kmatthews stimulated the conversation by posting a link about augmented reality twitter t-shirts (http://bit.ly/azgtZS), a very popular retweet. The main drivers of the conversation ended up relating to the privacy and future implications of sites like Gowalla and Foursquare (like Please Rob Me). As @kmatthews tweeted, “Ethics is becoming more important as media and interactivity become integrated in our personal lives (via @IsaacViel & @evanschultz).” The issues of privacy and social media will continue to become hot topic over the next 15 years.
